Bluebonnet Field
Bluebonnet Field
This 22 x 36 piece is done on archival 300lb. paper in ink with liquid acrylics.
I'm from Texas, and bluebonnets are the state flower. Most of the bluebonnet pieces I see are either illustrations or very realistic watercolors/paintings. I wanted to explore the idea of making an abstract series of a familiar image. The most iconic part about the bluebonnet is it's cobalt blue flower. I wanted to make that the main "pop" of color in the pieces and then use a brown ink to make up the rest of the imagery. I hope to explore this idea of abstracting the familiar in future pieces as well.
This is a subtle piece and is very versatile in it's size and it's look. I would recommend putting it in a bedroom over a bed, a living room, a kitchen by a eating table or dining room over a buffet.
