These 4 x4 pieces are done on archival mat board in oil paint, water color marker, watercolor and pencil (Together they are 8 x 8). There are small pieces of gold paper and water color paper applied with acid-free glue on top.
I have been interested in the rings and layers that are in natural stones for awhile. This small series is a study in the layers that make up a complex stone (such as a geode). I added a small piece of gold paper to enhance the texture in the center as well as water color paper towards the edge.
These would be great framed in white shadow box frames and then placed separately in a book case or together in an office or bedroom.
