Celebrating African American Interior Designers

As a young caucasian female, I make up the stereotype of who a "typical" interior designer is. In design school, there was one African American female in my class and by in large there aren't that many in the industry.

Since it's the last day of Black History Month, I wanted to highlight some amazing designers who are also African American. My desire is that one day there will be many other African Americans (as well as other groups) that make up the landscape of this creative industry. To encourage the circulation of these amazing designers' work, I've selected ten of my favorite rooms.

Each one of these designs gives just a taste of the designer's beautiful portfolio. I would encourage you to go to the designer's website of the room you liked the best- there is so many rooms I couldn't include! Each of these designers are also part of the Top 20 African American Designers of 2015. Here is the entire list if you want to see more!
