This piece is 24 x 18 and is made on archival media board mounted on a wood frame with acid-free glue. It is a combination of acrylic, colored pencil, watercolor, cotton paper, paint chips and pattern paper.
This piece is a study of the pattern that is found within grapefruit and the colors that bring them such richness. The white is used to highlight the organic nature of how the grapefruit grows. Part of the reason I'm attracted to citrus fruit is the symmetry within the fruit and the fluid way the seeds seem to form, grow, build on each other. This dichotomy between order and chaos is just a small picture of how there is beauty and purpose in all of nature, and I believe life itself.
This intricate, detailed piece deserves to be front and center where it lives. I recommend putting it in a place that you would get to enjoy it on a daily basis.
